"Hemispheres” is not only the name of our training. It is also an Italian association created by Donato, Jessica et Ilaria, the Italian participants in the 6th Hemispheres session (October-November 2010), together with other young Italian and European friends. The name of the association is directly inspired by the Frères des Hommes’ training that strongly encouraged them to become active citizens.

What is Hemispheres in Italia?

The Hemispheres association was created in February 2011; it promotes international solidarity and cooperation, global education, sensitization and social cohesion.

Hemisphere’s philosophy aims at highlighting the strong interaction between Southern and Northern hemisphere while speaking out against social, economical and cultural barriers among communities, both locally and globally.

The association is composed of different groups one in Naples, Roma, Geneva and Verona. In Verona some events were yet implemented in order to know better the Moroccan communities of the city and to start a social dialog with them.

Currently, Hemispheres association is working on a local event in Naples to be held this September and new projects in Bruxelles and Mexico.

Don’t miss the event in Naples the 10th of September

Naples is a controversial city, located in the Northern hemisphere but with many features similar to the Southern one. This event will deal with the common perception of “poverty”. It will take place in an symbolic place, an old and abandoned church in the very centre of Naples.

For starting, a public debate will be implemented with associations and citizens. The objective is to underline that “the south” represents a large part of our life and that poverty is not only concentrated in the Southern hemispheres. Donato and Ilaria have created with the help of a Neapolitan association “No comment” a photo exhibition which illustrates the debate.
