Something is going to happen in Kaunas this September! Artists from all over the world, musicians, and performers will animate the streets of the Lithuanian city. What a good occasion to organise a big event of sensitization! Take your flight ticket now and go come to participate: Lithuanian Hemispheres participants are waiting for you!

What are we talking about?

Every two years, a Textile Biennale is organized in Kaunas with the participation of various artists. This famous event is used to attracting a large public and represents for the Lithuanian Hemipsheres participants an excellent context to implement a collective local event!

The idea is at the same time original and simple: what about organizing exchanges, talks and shares experiences around a bread cooking?

Bread is the oldest and most common part of staple that is found all over the world. Ingredients and cooking methods vary depending on country, but bread remains a basic product, in the same way that the difficulties faced by people all around the world to earn their daily bread.

Concretely, this event called “Daily bread” will include baking workshops and performances of bread sharing at a “global table”. The participants will share the “daily bread” (baked by themselves on workshop) at a symbolic ‘global table” in order to talk with passers-by.

Daily bred is intended to draw public attention on the effect of globalization countries. In fact countries become socially, economically, and often even politically dependent on each others and are increasingly unable to address the emerging social, economic and political problems on local scale. The bread also introduces the idea of a global community by deleting borders of communities.

When and where will it be implemented?

“Daily bread” will take place during the biennale in Kaunas (Lithuania) the 23rd and 24th of September. You can participate to the Daily Bred implemented in the center of Kaunas or share your experiences during a Word Carrier.

Who can participate and how ?

All the former Hemispheres participants are invited to participate. If your are motivated, please contact the association KASF: specific accommodation are available for you. But the real goal is to attract passers-by and to sensitize them on consequences of globalization on social economic and political issues.
